After a decade together and months of speculation, the Ronaldo and Georgina wedding finally happened, and they managed to keep it almost entirely under the radar.
The couple confirmed the news themselves, sharing a close-up photo of their joined hands on Instagram, both wearing matching gold wedding bands, captioned simply: C ❤️ G.

A Wedding Portugal Didn’t See Coming
For weeks, Portuguese media had the internet convinced the ceremony would happen in Funchal, Madeira — Ronaldo’s birthplace — with reports even drawing crowds to the city’s cathedral in anticipation. Instead, Ronaldo and Rodriguez quietly married in a civil ceremony in Cascais, a coastal town just outside Lisbon, on August 11.
The guest list was about as intimate as it gets for a couple this famous: just their five children. The guest list was as intimate as it gets for a couple this famous: just their five children, Cristiano Jr, twins Eva and Mateo, and their daughters together, Alana Martina and Bella Esmeralda.
The misdirection worked almost too well. The Sunday before, photographers crowded Funchal Cathedral on a tip-off, only to end up shooting a different couple’s wedding. Meanwhile, the real one was quietly happening 1,000km away. When the announcement finally came, it passed 4 million likes in under 40 minutes (Euronews).

The Date Wasn’t Random
August 11 wasn’t picked at random. It marks exactly one year since Georgina first revealed their engagement, when she posted a photo of her hand resting over Ronaldo’s, showing off her ring with the caption “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives.”
A year later, that same gesture — hands together, rings on display — became the way the world found out they’d actually gone through with it.
That engagement ring became a story of its own: a 30-carat oval diamond, with estimates of its value ranging from €2m to €4.5m.
A Milestone Year for Ronaldo Off the Pitch
The wedding came just five weeks after Portugal’s World Cup ended with a 1-0 defeat to Spain in the round of 16 on 6 July. That was Ronaldo’s sixth and, he confirmed, final World Cup. “I gave it my all. I did my best, and I’m leaving with a clear conscience,” he said (Al Jazeera). Off the pitch, though, this chapter is just beginning — Ronaldo heads into the new Saudi Pro League season with Al Nassr just days after the ceremony, now doing it all as a married man.
Rodriguez, meanwhile, has built her own profile well beyond being Ronaldo’s partner — including headlining the Netflix series I Am Georgina that gave fans a look inside their life together long before the wedding photos did.
